Plexum X5 Installation Manual :: Upgrade Installation

 

Before you begin the installation process, lets go through the installation checklist.

 

Web Server Requirement:

 

  1. PHP 5 or above compiled with CURL , and XML support.

  2. Zend Optimizer 2.5.5 or above.

  3. CURL , (mysqli or mysql ), FTP , XML and GD2 extensions support.

  4. SSL enabled Web Server for Auto-billing capability (for Financial & Plan Module).

  5. MySQL 4.1 or above.

  6. Ability to run index.php as the index page default.

  7. Full execute, read and write permissions under document root directory for your domain account.

  8. 50 mg minimum of web space.

  9. Mail Program: Sendmail or SMTP .

  10. CronTab (not so required as Plexum X5 have a built-in FakeCron a script within Plexum which allows you to simulate the cron function on servers that do not allow cron to operate. but CronTab is preferable).

  11. DNS-Wildcard (Only required if you intend to use Sub-domain add-on module).

Note: Plexum X5 can be installed on any web server that meet above requirements.

 

Note:

 

  1. To use multiple database with Smart Campaign Module, you must have mysqli extension complied with PHP5

  2. If your server or website do not meet any or all above requirements, please contact your web hosting provider administrator on enabling the requirements on your server.

Now, let's begin the installation process!

 

Installation Step 1:

 

  1. Log-in to Plexum X4 administrator's back office, and click on Preferences & Tools, System Configuration and set "Site Maintenance/Offline setting" Member Back Office and Web Site to ON and click on the Submit button.

  2. Backup your current MySQL database before upgrade installation. You can use PHPMyAdmin to backup your database or contact your web hosting administrator to backup the database for you.

 

Installation Step 2:

 

  1. Log-in to your server via FTP

  2. Navigate to "plexum" directory under your document root.

  3. Rename "plexum" directory to plexum4.

  4. Navigate to cgi-bin directory or where Plexum X4 .pl files are installed.

  5. Rename the following files;
    (plexum.pl, plexum_IPN.pl, plexum_IIPN.pl, plexum_SIPN.pl, plexum_task.pl, plexum_task_leadgen.pl) to (plexum4.pl, plexum4_IPN.pl, plexum4_IIPN.pl, plexum4_SIPN.pl, plexum4_task.pl, plexum4_task_leadgen.pl).

 

Installation Step 3:

 

  1. Unzipped the software zipped package to a directory on your local drive.

  2. After unzipping the package, you will see the following; cgi-bin, plexum, index.php, plexum.php, plexumcp.php and ReadMe.txt.

 

Installation Step 4:

 

  1. Change the "Transfer Mode" on your FTP client to Binary

  2. Upload plexum directory, index.php,plexum.php and plexumcp.php to your server document root directory, the same level as the plexum4 directory (e.g. public_html/, www/, etc...).  *** NOTE: You must upload the folders and files in BINARY mode only, do not upload in ASCII mode***

  3. CHMOD (permissions) the folders and files to 777 (drwxrwxrwx), for those installing on a Windows server, give it FULL permissions (Read/Write/Execute).

 

Installation Step 5:

 

  1. Navigate to plexum4 directory and copy the following directory to your local drive (banner and member_img). *** NOTE: You must copy the directory in Binary mode.

  2. Navigate to plexum directory and upload both banner and member_img that is located on your local drive to plexum directory on the server.  *** NOTE: You must copy the directory in Binary mode.

 

Installation Step 6:

 

  1. Navigate to the cgi-bin in the plexum unzipped directory on your local drive.

  2. Open to edit the following files; plexum.pl, plexum_IPN.pl, plexum_IIPN.pl and plexum_SIPN.pl

  3. In the opened files, locate and replace $x5_url = 'http://www.yourdomain.com'; with your domain name in place of "yourdomain.com".

  4. Upload in ASCII all files in the cgi-bin directory on your local drive to the cgi-bin on your server and CHMOD them to 755 on UNIX /LINUX servers.

 

Installation Step 7:

 

  1. Run the plexum_upgrade.pl via the web browser (e.g. http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/plexum_upgrade.pl).

 

Installation Step 8:

 

  1. After running the upgrade script, you should see server path and URL already defined in the input box, check to make sure the server path and URL shown on the upgrade setup page matched your server path and URL, and if not, change it to the appropriate path and URL .

  2. Do not end the path or URL with a backslash or forward-slash (no trailing slash).

 

Installation Step 9:

 

  1. Click on the "Start Upgrade Now" and follow the On-Screen steps. *** DO NOT CLOSE THE BROWSER DURING THIS UPGRADE STEPS ***

  2. After the installation is successful, a page with your new log-in URLs will be displayed. However, your old URL will still function unless Plexum X4 files are deleted.

 

Installation Step 10:

 

  1. Delete the following files from your server document root directory, if they exist; index.html, index.htm, index.cgi, index.shtml, index.shtm.

 

Installation Final Step:

 

Log-in to the administrative back office, and following the steps below.

 

  1. Click on Preferences & Tools, then System Configuration, update the settings and click on the Submit button.

  2. Click on Preferences & Tools, then Administrative Manager, update all administrator's access.

  3. Click on Module Manager, there you will see list of available module in the dropdown menu, simply select the modules previously installed on Plexum X4, after the module is selected, you should see two button "Download & Reinstall" and "Uninstall Module", MAKE SURE to only click on the button with "Download & Reinstall", repeat the same process for all the modules.  Note: Do not "Uninstall Module" any module.

  4. Click on Website Wizard then Preferences and update the settings.

  5. Click on Website Wizard then Website Manager and update the settings on all website list and please read the help files on this section. You must still update the website setting even no changes if need.

  6. Click on Website Wizard then Website Template Editor, you must reload the following templates with the default template; Sign-up Form , Payment Gateway template, after updating the templates, click on the Re-build Template link.  Repeat the same process for all the websites.

  7. Click on the Genealogy Manager then Preferences and update the genealogy settings.

  8. Click on the Email Template link and update the email templates, Plexum X5 now have additional tags and some tags are changed.

  9. Click on the Preferences & Tools and go to the following area to update the settings; Office Link Wizard, External Access Control [EAC], Skin Wizard, Language Wizard.

  10. If you are or going to use CronTab, click on the Automatic Task Script to get paths to use on your CronTab setup.

 

Financial & Plan Module: Update the following area

 

  1. Click on the Preferences link and update the settings.

  2. Click on the Manage Plan link and update all previously created plan (e.g. preferences, commission structure. etc..).

  3. Click on the Payment Processor Gateway link and update all selected gateway (e.g. Authorize.Net, PayPal, etc..), after updating the gateway, please also go to Website Wizard/Website Template Editor and update all "Payment Gateway Templates", which mean to re-load the default template for them.

 

Smart Campaign Module: Update the following area

 

  1. Check and update all Smart Campaign Module preferences, most importantly, specifying a default campaign user on each Autoresponder Campaign preferences.

  2. Transfer all prospects assigned to the username called "system" to a real user in your database or to the default Campaign user by using the new feature of X5 called User to User Transfer Wizard, which can be found in Prospect Manager/User to User Transfer Wizard.

  3. Re-build all campaign letters.

And just do a general settings check-up.
